Tequila Joe's  Location: Ayala Center Cebu Food and Entertainment Center Specialty: Mexican Food Asian, International, Mexican Rating: Nyss - 3/5 Geus - 2/5 FOOD: It was a little hard for us to choose what to order because (1) the Lapu-Lapu was out of stock and (2) even though the grilled squid looks sumptuous we could not eat another bite of squid because we have been eating squid for several days. The ever helpful waiter suggested that we can just order their Seafood Platter. And we did try it because, well, everything's already in it.  Their Seafood platter consists of Fried Shrimp, Fish and Chips, Steamed Mahi Mahi with butter and a slice of lemon, and salad made of shredded lettuce, carrot, turnip and onions topped with peanut vinaigrette.   I could say that everything in the seafood platter is really good. We devoured everything from the crispy fried shrimp to the tender fish. Even the salad was good. My only complaint is the tartar dip for the fish and chips. The consistency was a little thick but it still tasted good. We haven't tried their house drinks since we do not drink but there weren't any people in the bar so I can't say that a lot of people really frequent the place to drink. But then again, it was only 8:00 pm when we went there so it was still relatively early for a drinking session at the bar. AMBIENCE/SERVICE: Just a few seconds after we arrived at our table, a waiter was already giving us a copy of the menu. I am impressed by their fast service and friendly waiters. Since TJ's is also a bar, the lights were dimmed making the place perfect for a date or for winding down with friends.   PRICE: Seafoods Platter – Php 340.00 Bottomless Softdrink/Iced Tea – Php 60.00 Rice – Php 20.00 Service Charge: 10% TJ's have been advertising in Cebu radio stations that they are an affordable restaurant. On my way inside, I did notice that they serve 89-peso meals during lunch time but of course come dinner time the prices are a little bit more expensive than other Cebu restaurants. VERDICT: Nyss - I'm tempted to try out other food in the menu. Geus - The food was scrumptious. I can have the same food that costs less with others though. |
