Magellan's Landing  Location: Marina Mall Lapu Lapu City, Mactan Near Mactan International Airport Specialty: European Cuisine Rating: Nyss – 3/5 Geus - 3/5 FOOD: As a habit, we asked the waitress for their specialty. The reason for this is we want to try what the best dish the restaurant has to offer. We were surprised when the waitress told us that they don't have any specialty. We looked at the menu and tried to search for a good dish. While waiting for our order, the waitress served us appetizer bread and butter. The bread was not that warm and the butter slice was too small.  I ordered Cajun Chicken and Sausage. It is described in the menu as spicy chicken and sausage in tomato sauce. Although the sauce tastes good, I was disappointed to learn that there were only 5 thin sausage slices in my plate.  Geus ordered Blue Marlin Steak with Lemon Teriyaki Sauce. I do not like the sauce one bit although Geus liked it because it tastes different. The Blue Marlin Steak was just grilled fish with sauce on the side so it looked and tasted quiet ordinary.  AMBIENCE/SERVICE: We went to the restaurant at about 7 pm and there were only two other customers. I am not sure if this is because the food is not that good or maybe just because it is too early in the evening or because it was Election Day and most of the people are still in their respective home towns. Still, a quiet restaurant, with the waiters and waitresses sitting on the bar watching TV does not sit well with me.     The place is decorated with old furniture and framed pictures of Magellan and other Spanish people which added to the overall feel of the restaurant. I did not feel I was in another country though because the room temperature was quiet high. PRICE: Coke in Can – Php 45.00 Cajun Chicken and Sausage – Php 255.00 Blue Marlin Steak – Php 198.00 All prices are subjected to 12% EVAT. VERDICT: Nyss – The food is expensive. I suggest you go there just to have a few drinks at the bar but have your dinner some place else. Geus - The food itself is plain simple. The sauce makes the food more delicious. |
